I agree .
but he needs to play a role which doesn't put him at risk

Well let´ s hope the surgery was a success and he can become consistently fit

You need new concepts

Re: Carlton COLE the upgrade
Carroll needs new legs, but I´m afraid the medical science is not quite there yet so we need a new striker

Hugh Monteith 11:47 Fri Mar 27
Re: Carlton COLE the upgrade
Every game needs a variation of pace and CARROLL needs a layer up front with him to assist with the mobility of our attacks

What kind of system are you talking about Hugh ? We have played with 2 strikers many times this season

Hugh Monteith 11:37 Fri Mar 27
Re: Carlton COLE the upgrade
If we played our players In a system which had more than one pace and one striker .we would get fewer injuries

Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
IN: Jenkinson, Schar(sp), Song, Sigurdsson, Konilupanka(sp) (free transfer) and a proper striker that doesn´t get injured after 5 minutes ala Carroll and Ashton we can go for a top six finish no fucking doubt

The Cult Of Bill 10:41 Fri Mar 27
Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
We are not a long way out of that level

If we keep our best players and add to that some proper signings like last summer we can go for a top 6 finish.

We will spend more this summer than last aswell

Correct mate. We are a long way off that level. The squad lacks quality and depth and you are correct that our midfield and attack players while ok in a squad are not of the quality needed to join the top 6 teams who unsurprisingly are the richest clubs and have invested the most.

Its all about money. Might get the odd exception in a season like Southampton but even they will be out of the top 6 when the season ends. Never hear the media discuss the fact that the top 4 - 6 are equivalent to how Rangers and Celtic were in the Sweaty top league for years.

Until the great unwashed stop subscribing to Sky and purchasing tickets nothing will change and even then it might not as revenues outisde the UK for TV rights are probably greater.

Don't forget that Cole will be a new signing in the summer....

Hernandez is a great shout. Cracking little player. Don't see why we shouldn't go in for him.

No, it does not count.

Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
PD, i have to agree a cup win of some sort but preferably the FA would be a real boost, been a long time between drinks, so much for it being a priority this season, a shambles against Sheffield United and then the humiliation by WBA, and that after last seasons disasters...... not good enough.
,
Last cup we won was that Intertoto bollocks and im not sure that really counts

Private Dancer 4:47 Fri Mar 27
Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
It's actually quite depressing when you realise that we are not even close to being a top 6 side yet. The likes of Noble, Downing and Sakho have done alright this season but they are never going to be world beaters. Valencia not up too much, and neither is Song. Carroll never fit. At least we have a good base to build from the back, but fuck me, we need 4 new quality players in midfield/attack..

It really is about time we won a cup so we can ahve something to celebrate.

The Cult Of Bill 12:41 Fri Mar 27
Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
Stevan Jovetic for example can play on the wings, in attacking mid and upfront. City want him out and he wants out too and a rumor says he wants to move to London

Fits the bill

Sorted

Re: Carlton Cole - the upgrade
He would be a great signing mongo but Champions League clubs will be after him so it is doubtful that he would sign..

Alex V 10:23 Wed Mar 25

So the solution would be to find a versatile player who can play upfront and in other positions perhaps?
